It must run in the family. Andrew Casarez, brother of Bobcat varsity fullback and linebacker Joe Manuel Casarez, had a breakout year playing in Beeville's Pop Warner football league. The Skidmore-Tynan 6th grader scored 20 touchdowns and rushed for over 1200 yards – leading the team to the Regional Championships.
Andrew played with Beeville's Mighty Mites his first three years - making the championships each year but not quite claiming the title. In 2007, Andrew played for the Junior Pee Wee team that advanced to the state quarter finals only to lose 8-0 to an Austin team in a hard-fought defensive battle. This year, Andrew's team won the South Texas Pee Wee Championship game against the Corpus Christi Sharks 22-18 in George West. The team advanced to the Regional playoffs where they were defeated 25-23 by the previously unscored-upon North McAllen Chargers. Andrew scored all three touchdowns in the game, one of which was a 90 yard run.
The coaches for the Beeville championship Pee Wee team were: head coach Val Amador, assistant coaches Joe Casarez, Greg Cuevas, Jeremy Cuevas, Ruben Cuevas, Mitch Eliott, Orlando Gonzales, Aldo Morin, Joe Morin, Joe Trevino, and Rico Martinez.
