Little League Bake Sale Saturday

Bobcat Little League is holding a Bake Sale Saturday, March 7, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Papa's Market. If you missed early registration, you can sign your child up during the sale. Player registration fees are $35 for the first child and $20 for each additional sibling. Birth certificates and proof of residency are required at registration. The league is also accepting applications for volunteer coaching positions. For more information, contact Ronnie Olivares at 542-9139.

Little League Registration Sunday

Player registration for the 2009 Bobcat Little League season begins Sunday, March 1st. Sign up your child from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Skidmore Dairy Queen. Little League Tryouts Saturday

Bobcat Little League registration continues through Friday, February 8th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Skidmore Dairy Queen. All children interested in playing on a Minor or Major League team (ages 10 to 12) are required to attend the 10:00 a.m. Saturday tryouts at the practice field located behind the S-T ISD Ag building. You may also register your child during tryouts Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Bobcat Little League Registration

Skidmore-Tynan Bobcat Little League will hold registration from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29th through Friday, February 1st at the Skidmore Dairy Queen. Bobcat Little League Registration

Bobcat Little League registration is currently underway. Stop by the Skidmore Dairy Queen from 4:00 to 6:00 pm through Friday to sign your son or daughter up for the 2007 season. The Bobcat Little League Board will meet at 6:00 pm Friday at The Rock Church on Highway 181 across from the Chisholm Trail Cafe.

Sign Up For Little League Fall Ball

Bobcat Little League invites baseball players ages 9 to 12 & to sign up for "Fall Ball." The fee for each player is $20. Contact Toby Salinas at 287-3617 or April Alvarado at 343-4255 to register. Games will run through October.

Weekend Little League Tryouts Cancelled

Bobcat Little League has cancelled Saturday and Sunday tryouts, February 18-19, due to cold weather. The next tryout is scheduled March 4th and 5th. Boys ages 10 -12 will try out at 10:00 a.m., Girls ages 10 -12 at 11:30 a.m., Boys ages 13 - 16 at 1:00 p.m., and Girls ages 13 -16 at 2:30 p.m.

Bobcat Little League Sets 2006 Registration Dates

The Bobcat Little League Board of Directors met Tuesday, January 17th to discuss plans for the upcoming season. The board agreed to once again interleague with Sinton whose season starts March 25th, 2006.

The league set Early Registration fees at $30 for the first child and $20 each additional sibling. The fee will increase to $40 for the first child at Late Registration. New players will be required to present an original birth certificate and three proofs of residency. Potential managers and coaches may fill out a volunteer form at registration.

Bobcat Little League Prepares for 2006 Season

Bobcat Little League is gearing up for the 2006 baseball season. Board members will meet Tuesday, January 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Skidmore Fire Station to discuss plans for the upcoming season. Little League board meetings are open to the public. Please drop by Tuesday night if you are interested in learning more about the league. Volunteers are always needed and always welcome!

Bobcat Little League Annual Meeting

Bobcat Little League will holds its annual meeting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, at the Skidmore Fire Station. The purpose of the meeting is to elect members to serve on the Board of Directors and to review the future plans of the organization. If you are interested in serving on the board or learning more about Bobcat Little League, join us Tuesday evening as we prepare for our third year serving the children of South Bee County.

Bobcat Little League Minors Play at Hooks Field

Members of the Bobcat Little League Minor teams went up against the Corpus Christi Longhorns at Hooks field Monday, August 1st. The game was played at the "Kids Park" located adjacent to Whataburger field. The team was coached by Toby Salinas, J.J. Trevino, and Richard "Shrimp" Garcia. Look for more photos of the game in the upcoming August 15 issue of the Skidmore Signal.

Bobcat Little League Minors to Play at Hooks Field

Members of the two Bobcat Little League Minor Baseball teams will enjoy a rare treat Monday, August 1st, when they play each other at the special Little League field located adjacent to the Whataburger Field. The game will take place at 5:00 p.m. and promises to be lots of fun for players and spectators alike.

Memorial Fund Established for Guartuche/Hernandez Family

Bobcat Little League, in cooperation with Sinton Little League, has established a memorial fund for the family of Elizabeth Guartuche/Hernandez. Mrs. Hernandez was in route to a Little League game in Sinton with four of her six children at the time of her accident. Bobcat Little League thanks the Sinton League for its support in this difficult time. Donations to the memorial fund may be mailed to the following address:

Auto Accident Claims Life of Local Woman

Elizabeth Guartuche was killed Saturday in a rollover car crash. Mrs. Guartuche was on her way to a Little League game at the time of the accident. Her children, Sonny, Sebastion, Alex, and Amy were in the vehicle and are reportedly recovering from serious injuries in area hospitals. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Arrisola Hooks Caller-Times Interview

They don't make much bigger baseball fans than Skidmore's own Louis Arrisola. In addition to helping coach his son John's Little League baseball team, Mr. Arrisola is also a big fan of Corpus Christi's new "Hooks" baseball franchise. His overnight quest for tickets to the Hooks season opener earned him mention in not one - but two recent write-ups in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. "Fan camps out for some of remaining reserved tickets for Hooks' opener" and "A whole new ballgame."

Rain Forces Rescheduling of Little League Tryouts

Bobcat Little League tryouts, originally scheduled for Saturday, have been moved to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2005. Minor and Major age boys and girls will tryout together at this time. The Little League board will hold a special meeting afterwards to appoint the remainder of league managers.

Light rain falling Saturday morning failed to put a damper on Bobcat Little League Player Tryouts. League officials and managers graded each player on bunting, batting, fielding, and throwing. The statistics gathered will be used to determine placement on Minor, Major, and Junior League Baseball and Softball teams.

Players will be drafted first to the Major League level, managed by Ed Wilson, with the remaining players drafted between two Minor League teams managed by Toby Salinas and a second yet to be named Minor manager. No draft will be necessary at the Junior level as there are only enough players signed up for one team.

Since player turnout was light at Sunday's second day of tryouts, Player Agent Wanda Wilson scheduled a third tryout date for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 26, for Minor and Major girls and boys only. Player drafts will follow Sunday, February 27, at The Rock Church.
