Museum Acquires Photo Collection

The Historical Society has just acquired the entire Wayne DuBose photo collection. It's quite a treasure trove of Skidmore History including photos, negatives, film, clippings, etc. If Mr. DuBose photographed your wedding, quinceanera, or other event, we will be happy to allow you to make new prints from the negatives.

Outstanding Athletes Recognized at Annual S-T Sports Banquet

Bobcat and Ladycat of the Year, Ben and Emily Mengers.

Skidmore-Tynan student athletes were honored at the annual Sports Banquet and Awards Ceremony, Monday, May 7th, in the S-T ISD Events Center auditorium.

Senior Ben Mengers, son of Thomas & Mary Mengers, and senior Emily Mengers; daughter of Tryne & Senecia Mengers, were named Bobcat and Ladycat of the Year respectively. Senior Scott Hale was recognized with the "Fighting Heart" award. "There were many deserving recipients for these awards among the seniors," said Athletics Director Adam Arroyo, "but when it came down to hard work, dedication, never missing a practice, and always being there for the team, the choice was clear."

Current Booster Club President Tryne Mengers welcomed parents and faculty to the banquet, featuring a hearty meal of brisket, sausage, and chicken catered by Anthony's Barbecue of Beeville. S-T ISD Senior Lee Jaurez led the assembly in a pre-meal prayer. Following the presentation of awards, Coach Arroyo offered special recognition to the outgoing senior class. Thanks also to Nancy Weaver who put together the sports highlights photo presentation.

Ladycats Fall to Poth in Area Playoffs

Coach Flores consoles senior Ladycat Emily Mengers during Friday's playoff-ending loss.

The Ladycats winning season came to a close Friday, February 17, as the Poth "Pirettes" emerged victorious in the Area Playoffs. Our Ladycats made us proud - fighting to the end against a formidable "2nd ranked in State" opponent. Sure, there were a few questionable calls by the referees, but in the end the Ladycats simply fell to a worthy opponent. The Ladycats ended the season with an impressive 23 and 11 record. Good luck to Poth in their quest for another State title.
