Walter Glen “Kopy” Koop of Edna died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at age 66. Mr. Koop was born January 6, 1940, in League City to the late Walter Dietrich and Zelpha Putman Koop. He was raised in Skidmore and graduated from Skidmore-Tynan High School in 1959. He was a Captain in the U. S. Armed Services, serving as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War and earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a farmer and rancher.
Mr. Koop is survived by one daughter, Linda Fontana of Dallas; two sons, Kenneth W. Koop of Whitehouse and Kevin G. Koop of Tyler; one sister, Gwen Foxell of Edna; one brother, Kenneth D. Koop of Edna; and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Koop was laid to rest Monday, July 3, 2006, in San Antonio's Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.
