Adolph Stautzenberger 1929-2009

Adolph Phillip Stautzenberger of Skidmore died on Tuesday, June 30, at age 80.

He was born June 29, 1929, in Tynan to Alvin A. & Ida Rudeloff Stautzenberger. He married Helen Harrison on June 18, 1950, and was a member of Peace United Church of Christ. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Stautzenberger was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Scott Stautzenberger. Survivors include two sons, Ernest S. Stautzenberger of Beeville and Rocky (Joan) Stautzenberger of Skidmore; four grandsons, Lyndon, Marshall, Cody and Blake Stautzenberger; and his dear friend and companion, Sue Leach.

Services were held at Galloway & Sons chapel Friday morning with interment following at Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis DeWitt, Michael Page, Ron Stautzenberger, Phillip Stautzenberger, Cody Stautzenberger and Blake Stautzenberger.

Jack Wilkinson 1925-2009

Jack Wilkinson, 83, of Skidmore, Texas, passed away June 21, 2009 at his daughter and son-in-law’s home in Smithville, Texas. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Mr. Wilkinson was born on April 13, 1926 in Sinton, Texas; the son of the late Volney and Ouida Wilkinson. On November 10, 1956, he married Julie Ann Doubrava in Sinton, Texas. In life, Jack Wilkinson enjoyed hunting, working with horses and cattle and spending time with his family. He worked for “Hall and Maples” as a Bull Dozer Operator. In 1956, he began his career with the “San Patricio Electric Co-op” in Sinton, Texas, where he worked for the next 32 years until his retirement on April 13, 1988.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Ann Wilkinson of Skidmore, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Karl Burris of Smithville, Texas; Sister Marjorie (Nell) Bohac and her husband Allen Bohac of Skidmore, Texas; and sister Bernice Gressett and her husband Jimmy Gressett of Aransas Pass, Texas as well as several Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Wilkinson was preceeded in death by his father, mother, 3 sisters and a brother.

Services were held Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas. Pallbearers were Emil Doubrava, Thomas Doubrava, Ricky Bohac, Joe Cramer, John Cramer and Frankie White.

In Memoriam: Leo Amador Jr.

Leo Amador Jr., of Skidmore, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at age 47. Mr. Amador was born July 17, 1960, in Beeville, to Herminia Guajardo Amador of Skidmore and the late Leo Amador Sr.

Mr. Amador worked as a correction officer and is survived by his mother, Herminia Guajardo Amador; daughter, Anastacia Amador; sisters, Grace McKerall, Kathy Amador, and Annette Sain; brothers, Mike Amador and Mark Amador; and his ex-wife, Merideth Allen.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Word of Life Church in Beeville. Burial will follow at Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery. In Memoriam: Henry Doubrava

Henry W. Doubrava, of Skidmore, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at age 66. Mr. Doubrava was born Janunary 13, 1941 to Frank and Helen Doubrava.

Mr. Doubrava was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Yvonne Herschap-Doubrava; and brother, Frank Doubrava. He is survived by Anita Newsom; two sons, Robert Allen and Gary Dean Doubrava; brothers Allen and Norman Doubrava; sisters, Frances Streb and JoAnn Odom; and 8 grandchildren.

Mr. Doubrava was laid to rest in Skidmore's Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were: Allen Gus Doubrava Jr., Holden Price, Keith Doubrava, Ross Byron Palacious, Aaron Blaine Doubrava, and Shannon Fischer. Honorary pallbearers were: Louis O'Brien, Jeff Quillin, and Raymond Brundrett.

In Memoriam: Arturo V. Camargo

Arturo V. Camargo, formerly of Skidmore, died May 26, 2007, at age 84. Mr. Camargo was a Catholic and a veteran of World War II serving the United States Army. He was a retired painter, formerly employed at NAS Chase Field.

Mr. Camargo was preceded in death by his father, Emmanuel Camargo; mother, Florentina Villarreal Camargo; wife, Isabel Lara; son, Arturo Camargo, Jr.; and brother Enrique Cantu.

Mr. Camargo is survived by 3 brothers, Adolfo Camargo and Jose Garcia, both of Beeville, and Daniel Garcia of Bloomington; 7 sisters, Herminia Lara, Dora Gonzales, Sara Gonzales, and Guadalupe Gonzales, all of Skidmore, Lucia Garza and Lorenza Salinas, both of Beeville, and Baudelia Hanson of Corpus Christi; a daughter Angie Constante of Brookport, Illinois; step daughters Eliza Markham of Arkansas, and Elia Pruitt of Brookport, Illinois; and numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Skidmore's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In Memoriam - Manuel P. Olivares

Manuel P. Olivares, of Skidmore, died May 14, 2007, at age 66. He was the owner and operator of a local service station.

Mr. Olivares is survived by two sons, Michael Olivares of Edinburg and Orlando Olivares of Skidmore; three daughters, Brenda Cruz of Houston, Belinda Arrisola of Victoria and Raquel Garcia of Beeville; four sisters, Elia Alvarado, Marcela Flores and Yolanda Silvas, all of Beeville, and Anna Castillo of Lubbock; three brothers, Fermin Olivares of Skidmore, Margarito Olivares of Louisiana and Paul Olivares of Beeville; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Olivares was laid to rest in Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery.

Jerri Kraft Whitcher Graveside Service

Former Skidmore resident Jerri Kraft Whitcher, will be laid to rest Saturday, April 21, 2007 in Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery. A graveside service will be conducted by Kurt Whitcher at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Whitcher died February 18, 2007, at age 64 and will be laid to rest next to her son, Bernie Miller.

Mrs. Whitcher was born Nov 23, 1942 to Lola Marie Priour and William A. Kraft in Beeville, Texas. She was a real estate secretary in Houston, Texas for a number of years before retiring in 1988.

Mrs. Whitcher was preceded in death by her parents; a brother William A. Kraft Jr. and a son James B. Miller. Survivors include her husband Robert Whitcher, three sons, Charles Miller Jr. of Austin, Texas, Leslie Miller of Houston, Texas, and Benjamin Miller of Hempstead, Texas, step mother Gloria Kraft of Lexington, Missouri and Mikeal Kraft of Richmond, Missouri and Kevin Kraft of Lexington, Missouri, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In Memoriam: Annette Griffith

Annette Carroll Griffith, of Papalote, died March 25, 2007, at age 81. Mrs. Griffith was the owner of "Hen House Antiques" and was a long-time member and supporter of the Skidmore Historical Society & Museum.

Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and her husband, Charles Hobbs "Rusty" Griffith.

She is survived by three daughters, Ann Griffith-Ash, Carol Griffith, and Jane Griffith-Partlow; grandchildren Sara Griffith Ash, Beth Houser-Cole, Becky Houser-Canavan, Matt Griffith Petrus, William Robertson Petrus, Molly Petrus-Thomas, Jenny Partlow-Price, Thomas Ross Partlow, and Abbie Partlow-Mayo; and 14 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Griffith was laid to rest in the family cemetery on the Griffith Ranch near Papalote.

In Memoriam: Eliseo Garcia

Eliseo Garcia of Skidmore died March 8, 2007 at age 101. Mr. Garcia was a retired construction worker and a Catholic.

Mr. Garcia is survived by seven daughters, Herminia Lara and Dora, Sara and Guadalupe Gonzales, all of Skidmore, Baudelia Henson of Corpus Christi, and Lucia Garza and Lorenza Salinas, both of Beeville; four sons, Arturo Camargo of Kentucky, Adolfo Camargo and Jose Garcia, both of Beeville, and Daniel Garcia of Bloomington; 54 grandchildren; 147 great-grandchildren; 53 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11, at Trevino Funeral Home, Beeville. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, at Immaculate Conception Church with burial to follow in Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery.

In Memoriam: Johnny Castaneda

Johnny Castaneda of Papalote, died March 6, 2007 at age 29. Mr. Castaneda was an electrician and a member of the Pentecostal faith.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Baca of Beeville; a daughter, Mariana Rodriguez Castaneda of Beeville; two sons, Andy Baca and Daniel Martinez, of Beeville; his parents, Paula Soto Castaneda and Arturo Castaneda Sr. of Papalote; three sisters, Ide Shaulis and Darlene Castaneda, both of Papalote, and Teresa Fuentes of Skidmore; two brothers, Joshua and Arturo Castaneda Jr., both of Skidmore; and his grandmothers, Anastacia Soto of St. Paul and Maria Castaneda of Skidmore.

Prayer services will be held at 7:30 p.m., March 8 and March 9, at Trevino Funeral Home in Beeville. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. March 10 at Trevino Funeral Home with burial to follow at Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery.

In Memoriam: Ronald C. Steinmeyer

Ronald C. Steinmeyer, died February 22, 2007 at age 57. Mr. Steinmeyer worked as a land surveyor. Survivors include his wife, Dehlia; a son, David Ronald Steinmeyer of Aransas Pass; his mother, Melba Steinmeyer of Skidmore; and a sister, Debbie Rackley of Pettus. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Church of Christ, Mathis.

In Memoriam: Franklin D. Stautzenberger

Franklin Stautzenberger died unexpectedly February 20, 2007 at age 73. Mr. Stautzenberger was a Korean War veteran and a member of Tynan's Peace United Church of Christ.

He is survived by a son, Ron Stautzenberger of Iola; a daughter, Susan Gonzales of Andrews; a brother, Adolph Stautzenberger of Skidmore; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 24th at the funeral home with interment to follow in Tynan's Waldheim Cemetery.

Former Skidmore resident Jerri Kraft Whitcher, of Corder Missouri, died February 18, 2007, at age 64.

In Memoriam: Ofilia A. Garcia

Ofilia Alaniz Garcia of Tynan died January 20, 2007 at age 73. Mrs. Garcia was a homemaker and member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Mrs. Garcia is survived by her husband, Guadalupe; five daughters, Delia Menchaca and Elia Barrientes of Tynan, Gregoria Menchaca of Moore, Oklahoma, Ofelia Garcia of Premont, and Emilia Garcia of Skidmore; two sons, Guadalupe Garcia Jr. of Sinton and Juan Garcia of Tynan; three sisters, Ageda Lopez of Corpus Christi, Siria Canales of Tynan and Virginia Vidaurri of Abilene; a brother, Pioquinto Alaniz of Refugio; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 23. Mrs. Garcia was laid to rest in Tynan's Waldheim Cemetery.

In Memoriam: Bertie Rae Houck

Bertie Rae Houck, 87, of Corpus Christi passed away Friday, December 8th, after a very short battle with lung cancer. She was born October 18, 1919, in Henryetta, Oklahoma to James Henry and Nellie Lowry Cunningham. She married Luther Houck, June 5, 1937, in Henryetta, Oklahoma and shared 61 happy years with him. From that union were born three daughters.

She spent most of her married life in Corpus Christi and Papalote, Texas. Bertie was an organizer of many community events in Papalote and was an enthusiastic and active supporter of the Skidmore-Tynan school and the Papalote Volunteer Fire Department. She was an avid bowler over 30 years. During their retirement years, she and her husband traveled extensively across the United States and belonged to the Corpus Christi Land Sailors RV club. At the time of her death, she was a member of Parkdale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.

In the five weeks prior to her death, Mrs. Houck resided in the home of Darlene Starry of Corpus Christi, who saw to her needs with compassion and love. Prior to that time, Mrs. Houck was fortunate to have had several other wonderful caregivers in her own home, namely Mary Meza, Melinda Garza, Lydia Gaitan and Benita Perez.

Her husband, parents, three brothers, three sisters and one grandson, Dennis Boudreau, preceded Bertie in death. Survivors are three daughters, Velma Jo (John) Kreis of Papalote, Texas, Carolyn (Larry) Boudreau of Corpus Christi, Texas and Ava (Ernie) Hurst of Beeville, Texas, ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Sawyer George Funeral Home in Annaville, Tuesday, December 12, 2006, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family members present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Parkdale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. Services will be conducted by Rev. Luis Garcia at the church and Amador Ramirez at the gravesite. Pallbearers will be Amador Ramirez and son, John; Robert Graham and son, Eric; and David Treiber and son, Michael.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkdale Baptist Church Christian Care Center, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.

In Memoriam: Edward Brundrett Jr.

Edward P. Brundrett Jr., of Skidmore, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006 at age 64. He was born October 13, 1942, in Beeville, to Edward Payne and Wilma Anderson Brundrett, and served most recently as the Bee County Emergency Management Coordinator.

Mr. Brundrett was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Over the years, Mr. Brundrett served his community as a board member for Skidmore- Tynan School District and the Bee County Junior Livestock and Homemakers Show. He served as Safety Director for B.S.A.A. and was a Charter member and Assistant Chief of the Skidmore Fire Department. He served as assistant secretary of Guadalupe Firemen's and Fire Marshall's Association and was past church council president at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tynan.

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Sahm Brundrett; daughter, Heidi Lynn Brundrett of New Braunfels; and sister, Alice Titus of Aransas Pass. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Syma.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, in Beeville, with Mr. Don Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore. Pallbearers are Joe Cramer, John Cramer, Allen Bohac, Ricky Bohac, Eddie Salas, Reagan Mortenson, Sandy Lopez, Bill Hartman, and Bobby Cramer. Honorary Pallbearers are Russ Duggins, John L. Lynch, John Henry Henkhaus, and Ricky Olivares. Memorials: Skidmore Volunteer Fire Department, Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

In Memoriam: Maria T. Munoz

Maria Trinidad Munoz, infant daughter of Susie Munoz and Edward Hernandez of Tynan, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore, died November 17, 2006.

Survivors include two brothers, Jonathan and Justin Hernandez, two sisters, Katrina and Eddika Hernandez; and grandparents, Epifanio and Josefa Munoz Jr., of Tynan, Joe Hernandez of Beeville and Esperanza Hernandez of Rockport.

Little Maria was laid to rest Wednesday, November 22, in Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery.

In Memoriam: Margie Petrus

Marjorie Evelyn Rylant Petrus, of Skidmore, died Tuesday, October 31, at age 84.

Mrs. Petrus was born November 8, 1921, in Emory, Texas to the late Mamie Beatrice Roan and William Hershel Rylant. She was a 1938 graduate of Skidmore-Tynan high school and a member of Skidmore United Methodist Church. She worked for Alamo Moving, was a Tax Assessor-Collector for S-T ISD, a clerk at the tax office for the city of Beeville, treasurer for Skidmore Ambulance Service, and recording secretary for Skidmore United Methodist Church in Skidmore.

Mrs. Petrus is survived by a sister, Louise Disbro, of Premont and Sugar Land. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jo Lively, and brother, Don Rylant.

Visitation is Thursday, November 2nd from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, Rev. Jason Calvert officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville.

In Memoriam: Efriam "Jr." Lopez

Efriam "Jr." Lopez, of Skidmore, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at age 40.

Mr. Lopez was born October 21, 1966, to the late Efriam Lopez and Victoria Cardona Lopez of Skidmore. He was a 1985 graduate of Skidmore-Tynan High School and worked at the Valero Refinery in Three Rivers.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his wife, Deborah Ann Salinas Lopez; daughters, Victoria Delfina and Marina Elena Lopez, both of Skidmore; and sisters, Delma Lopez, Irma Lopez, Nora Lopez Castillo and Andrea Lopez, all of Lockhart.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, at Trevino Funeral Home in Beeville. Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore with Rev. Sebastian V. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery.

In Memoriam: Beatris T. Moreno

Beatris T. Moreno, of Tynan died October 7th, 2006 at age 99. Mrs. Moreno was a homemaker and member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Mrs. Moreno is survived by four daughters, Juanita Ramirez of Tynan, Anita Serrano of Sinton, Rosita Asevedo of Detroit, and Dora Ramirez of Skidmore; three sons, Mauricio and Eduardo Moreno, both of Sinton, and Pablo Moreno Jr. of San Antonio; and numerous descendants.

Mrs. Moreno was laid to rest in Tynan's Waldheim Cemetery.
