Its Time for Daylight Savings Time

Set Your Clock Ahead 1 Hour to Spring Forward!

Ever wonder why we set our clocks forward in the spring?  Basically, it is to get more daylight by making our days "longer."  Daylight Savings Time (DST) was first suggested in 1784 by Benjamin Franklin.  DST was again proposed by George Vernon Hudson in 1895, with a two-hour time shift.  However it was William Willett, an English builder, in 1905 that is credited for modern DST.  Willett proposed that we set our clocks ahead during the summer.  The proposal was sent to the House of Commons in February 1908, but it was not put into practice until 1916.  During World War I, several European countries implemented DST, giving birth to "Spring Forward, Fall Back."

Daylight Savings Time Begins on Sunday, March 13th at 2:00am!
