Skidmore PeeWee 4-H’ers Awarded Buckles

4H buckle winners Dillon Stautzenberger, Sydney Baker, and Brady Bednorz

Three Skidmore Pee Wee division 4-H’ers of the Stampede Club were awarded buckles for competing in the 2004-2005 Bee County sponsored 4-H Point Horse Shows on August 6th at the Bee County 4-H Banquet.

Dillon Stautzenberger, age 7, riding his horse “Oliver,” won Reserve Hi Point Speed Event Champion. Sydney Baker, age 7, riding her horse “Cracker Jack,” won Hi Point Speed Event Champion, and Brady Bednorz, age 7, riding his horse “Sugars Lil Peppy,” won All-Around Champion.

4-H Friends and Alumni Association Membership Drive

All former 4-Her’s and those who were never in 4-H but want to support the program and Texas youth are invited to join the 4-H Friends and Alumni Association. The association's goal is to build and foster relationships among Texans who support the development programs of 4-H and who believe that the future of our nation depends on the success of reaching today’s youth with the values and opportunities provided through 4-H. 4-H is the largest youth development organization in the state. Don't you want to be a part of that great accomplishment? Each year, 4-H touches the lives of more than a million children through club membership, special interest groups, school enrichment programs, nutrition programs, and outdoor adventures.

As a member of the Texas 4-H Friends and Alumni Association you will receive discount privileges from corporate sponsors, admission into hospitality rooms, a quarterly newsletter, an invitation to our annual gala, and the chance to touch the life of a 4-H'er. Memberships are open to individuals, regardless of whether or not you were in 4-H, and there are also corporate sponsorships available. Membership dues provide funding for the Texas 4-H Friends and Alumni scholarships and provide grant money to county 4-H programs for the purpose of expanding the 4-H program.

Support 4-H and touch the life of a 4-H’er by joining the 4-H Friends and Alumni Association today. Membership applications are available in the County Extension Office or online at www.texas4hfriends.org>.

S-T Lions Enjoy 4H Club Presentation

The Skidmore-Tynan Lions club met Tuesday night at the Chisholm Trail Cafe. The Lions were joined by members of the local 4H Club. Laurie Hudson, Lindsey O'Neil, Will Handy, and Christa Ayala gave an interesting presentation outlining the benefits of the 4H program to its members as well as the community at large. The Lions' Easter Basket Raffle is currently underway. The basket is on display at the Chisholm Trail Cafe where tickets may be purchased. Lion Russel Duggins announced a series of proposed Vision Screenings scheduled for the month of March which were promptly approved by the club. The first screening will be held Sunday, March 21, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beeville beginning at 9:30 am. The second screening will take place at the S-TISD Cafetorium beginning at 10:00 am. Mr. Duggins' call for a vote to approve the sponsorship of a local Bobcat Little League team passed unanimously. The next meeting of the Lions Club is scheduled on March 9th at the Chisholm Trail Cafe.
