Francisco Alaniz Sr. of Skidmore died September 18, 2006 at age 85. Mr. Alaniz was a retired farmer and member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Mathis.
Mr. Alaniz is survived by his wife, Tomasa; daughters, Maria Garza of Mathis, Juanita Huerta and Modesta Crichton, both of Skidmore, Lupe Puentes of Corpus Christi, Melba Henson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Rachel Showalter of Robinson, Ga.; sons, Jose Manuel and Francisco Alaniz Jr., both of Mathis, Juan and Samuel Alaniz, both of Skidmore, and Benjamin Alaniz of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Estemfena and Maria Alaniz, both of Alice, and Agapita Alaniz of Orange Grove; six brothers, Antonio, and Bellian Alaniz, both of Orange Grove, Roberto Alaniz of Skidmore, Felipe Alaniz of Mathis, Safarino Alaniz of San Diego, and Georgio Alaniz of Dallas; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Alaniz was laid to rest in Descanso Eterno II Cemetery in Mathis.
