South Bee County applies for Little League charter.

The South Bee County communities of Skidmore, Tynan, and Papalote met at the Skidmore First Baptist Church Tuesday to discuss establishing their own Little League charter. After much discussion, a vote was called and passed unanimously in favor of filing for a new charter under the name "Bobcat Little League." Local residents who stepped forward to serve on the Board of Directors are as follows (in no particular order): Keith Petrus, Thelma Zavala, Lucy Rocha, Rey Cabrera, Candy Chambers, Jennifer Chambers, Mary Terry Rodriguez, Ed Wilson, Wanda Wilson, Richard Chambers, Kenny Butler, Carrie Butler, Feliza Rodriguez, Louis Arrisola, and Rachel Herrera. From this group of volunteers, league officers were elected:

President: Keith Petrus
Vice President: Rey Cabrera
Secretary: Candy Chambers
Treasurer: Mary Terry Rodriguez
Safety Officer: Ed Wilson
Player Agent: Thelma Zavala
Information Officer: Wanda Wilson
Umpire-in-Chief: Rey Cabrera

Everyone who was nominated ran unopposed and agreed upon by all board members. The remaining board members will serve as "members at large." In an effort to move forward as quickly as possible, members were assigned to the following committees:

Constitution Committee: Wanda Wilson, Candy Chambers, and Jennifer Chambers
Auxiliary Committee Carrie Butler, Jennifer Chambers, Lucy Rocha, Richard Chambers, and Ed Wilson.

The new league's first goal is to raise $1000 for charter fees and locate a suitable piece of land on which to construct a ballpark. The board will meet again Tuesday, October 21, 2003 @ 7:30 pm, in the Skidmore 1st Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The public is invited to attend.
