Skidmore Figures Prominently in "Back Thru Time" History Trail

Stop #14 along the "Back Thru Time" History Trail

Several area businesses and organizations took part in Saturday's Highway 181 "Back Thru Time" History Trail. Stageline Furniture, Chisholm Trail Cafe, Papa's Market, the Skidmore Museum, and the Hen House were listed as stops 11 thru 15 on the official event map. Historical Society volunteers were on hand both days to greet visitors to the museum. According to Carol Dubois, most of the action in the two day event occurred Saturday with few people braving the heat Sunday afternoon. Along with the permanent memorabilia on display were a few temporary items including a rare "S. A. & A. P." spittoon provided courtesy of Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Wallek Jr.

Bonnie Aguilar created this turtle along with several other fanciful cakes for the Historical Society Bake Sale.

The Skidmore Historical Society held a bake sale in conjunction with the event, raising over $200 on behalf of the museum. The Historical Society will hold its last meeting Tuesday June 8th, before taking its annual summer break. All who are interested in local history are encouraged to attend. Regular meetings will resume in September.
