Lions Club Rangers-Yankees Raffle Results

Young Kevin Crottie helped draw the winning tickets.

The Skidmore Lions kind of took the month off in July. Our President Lion Dave Waishes went on a two week vacation, Lion Dee LeCount took a much needed break and visited her daughter in Tennessee and Lions Russ and Ann Duggins took a trip to Newfoundland to visit with Ann’s sisters and their husbands. They left on July 1 and returned home on July 20 just in time for the Cabinet Meeting.

On August 1st, the Skidmore Lions raffled off four tickets to a Texas Rangers vs. New York Yankees ballgame in Arlington. As luck would have it, our own Lions Governor Ernest Opella was the first name drawn. "Who are the Texas Rangers?" he is said to have inquired when notified of his winning ticket. Second place, a $25 gift certificate to Surprise Party Store, went to Dale Holcomb of Yoakum. Sue Fullington of Beeville won the third place prize, a Houston Astros program autographed by Lance Berkman. Two Houston Rockets posters went to Debra Cantu of Taft, and Jackie Nelson of Red Oaks, Texas.
