Friends and Family Honor Brett Huser with Highway Cleanup

Participants gathered at the Starbucks where Brett worked.

On a cloudy but warm day in San Antonio, well over 100 of Brett Michael Huser's friends and family gathered to participate in the cleanup of Rogers Ranch Road. The section of roadway was chosen for its proximity to both the site of Brett's auto accident back in February, and the Starbucks where Brett worked prior to his passing. It was at this coffee house that Brett charmed himself into the hearts of a whole new group of friends and co-workers. These new friends, and many of his old ones, joined to do a good deed in celebration of Brett's short but precious life here on Earth. To honor what would have been Brett's 20th birthday, the Huser family released 20 balloons at Brett's grave site in Beeville's Memorial Park. A single balloon was reserved to be released at Starbucks prior to the cleanup. Starbucks contributed to Brett's legacy by donating to a charitable cause $10 per participant for each hour of volunteer work. The group of volunteers earned well over $1,000.00 when all was said and done. With the clean-up complete, Brett's mother, Desiree Huser, thanked everyone for their participation in the event and announced that Brett would have really enjoyed "seeing everyone out here sweating" on his behalf.
