The Skidmore First Baptist Youth Group returned from a Mission Trip to Vidor, TX where they worked with the Nehemiah’s Vision in an effort to help rebuild the surrounding area damaged from the 2005 Hurricane Rita.

Nehemiah’s Vision is a non profit 501(c) 3 organization formed by five businessmen from southeast Texas with a vision to share the love of God in practical ways by assisting in the recovery efforts in future crises elsewhere. Their primary goals are to assist in this effort with the uninsured and underinsured homeowners and churches – those unable to take care of these needs by themselves (www.nehemiahsvision.com).

Almost 100 youth all over south and east Texas worked together to help rebuild homes destroyed by the hurricane. The youth groups helped families by shingling roofs, building porches, painting homes, rebuilding rooms and more. In the five days they worked, eleven projects were completed and 22 homes re-tarped.

These young people learned how to be a servant for the Lord and to be a helping hand to those in need. The lives of people living in Vidor were touched by the generosity of these Texas youth who took time out of their summer to help hurricane victims rebuild.
