The Skidmore-Tynan Junior High School hosted the District 31 2A Academic UIL meet Saturday January 22nd.  Seven districts competed in the event and the Skidmore-Tynan Junior High came out on top scoring almost five hundred points higher than the second place district.

Point totals were as follows:  Skidmore-Tynan 882, Banquete 387, Odem-Edroy 354, Freer 325, San Diego 296, Refugio 262, and Taft 134.  “It’s a tribute to our students who worked hard to prepare for this event” said Principal John Matus, “We have a dedicated staff that ensured each student was ready and they represented our district extremely well.”

There were approximately four hundred and twenty five students registered to compete in areas including math, science, social studies, art, speaking events, and skills including dictionary, spelling, and calculators. The task of scheduling and getting students to their events was handled expertly by District Coordinator Debbie Adamez.  The cooperation of the entire Junior High staff, parents and volunteers contributed to the extremely successful hosting of this event for the third consecutive year.
