New Elementary School On Schedule

A Glimpse of the New S-T Elementary School

The Skidmore-Tynan ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting Monday night to discuss this current project.  With a 3-D model view on Power Point, it was very clear to see how the students are the most important in the design elements of this project.  With double doors at each entry point for security purposes, bathrooms designated to specific grade levels, natural light in all the classrooms, and an all-in-one campus building.  The students will be able to access the gym, the cafeteria, and the library all from the main hallway of the school building.  The current Elementary staff has been given the opportunity to provide input on the design elements of the building, which has led to some very good ideas to a more productive and safe environment for each student.  They are still in the planning process of this project and some things might change along the way, but it seems to be running smoothly and on schedule.

Trustees approved the location of the new elementary school, the building program, and the material selection!  The project moves forward on schedule for an August 2012 opening!
