Gustav Bears Down on Gulf Coast

It looks like the forecasters were right when the predicted another busy hurricane season. The latest storm, Gustav, appears to be headed for Louisiana but as of Saturday, we are still within the radius of its potential effects. This storm is certainly one we'll want to keep an eye on. JV Bobcats Start Season With a Win

The Bobcat JV football team kicked off the year with a 18-0 shut out of the Bishop Badgers.

The defense was led by (#56) George Garcia’s 3 sacks and a fumble recovery, as well as fumble recoveries by (#10) Douglas Fowler, and (#23) Robert Hernandez. On offense, the Bobcats had 3 touchdowns scored by (#12) Zach Mengers on a 55 yard option keeper, (#1) Derek Boggess 18 yard reception, and (#30) J.D. White 34 yard run. The team’s offensive line, anchored by (#70) Donato Salinas and (#77) Javier Barrientes, set the tempo from the beginning.

Six to Compete for Three School Board Positions

The deadline to sign up for a spot on November's S-T ISD school board election ballot came and went August 26th. As of that date, six candidates placed their names in the running.

Incumbents:
Ysrael (Rudy) Salinas
Ken Haggard
Rick D. Olivares

Update: Mr. Salinas has removed his name from the ballot.

This year's school board election will be held in conjunction with the general election, November 4th, 2008.
