Skidmore Memorabilia on Ebay

The Signal came across an interesting item listed on Ebay recently. If you act quickly, there is still time to bid on Antique Bank Advertising Thermometer Skidmore Texas. Auction ends Tue. April 27.

Seller's Description: This is a very nice example of an antique advertisement given out by the First Bank of Skidmore Texas. I recently purchased it from the historic Cook-Dugat Home just outside of Beeville Texas. They had it in their kitchen. This beautiful victorian home was built back in 1897 and was full of treasures! I am listing a few this week on Ebay. This item had a frame but it was badly damaged and the inside of the glass was so bad you could hardly see this print so I removed it to prevent any damage to the print. The print itself is adhered to a composite heavy board backing and the thermometer in in good condition. The size of this print is 8 x 10. It has a few small tears in it but nothing that detracts from the piece.

By the way - we didn't find this item - it found us. Ebay's settings allow you to receive automatic notifications when items matching your search parameters appear in one of their listings - in this case, the words "skidmore texas." The same trick works with for everything from "star trek wil wheaton autographs" to "old time fiddle music" (not that those are things anyone here at the Signal cares about).
