Sports Pics - Varsity Pulls Off Last Minute Win

Shortstop Blake Stautzenberger goes after a George West grounder.

With the score 6-1 in George West's favor, Allen Berthold started off a 7th inning rally with a line drive to left field. Bobcat fans thought the game was over when Jeremy Johnson cleared the bases with another drive to left. Unfortunately, the ball rolled under the fence and Jeremy and the runner in front of him were returned to base on a ground rule double. Score 6-5. George West chose to walk the last batter in the line up, power hitter Blake Stautzenberger, allowing Allen Berthold a second at-bat in the inning. Big mistake. Allen tee'd off on the first pitch with a long fly ball to center field, driving in the game winning runs.

Winning isn't everything, but it beats the alternative.
