Fight for Your Right to High Speed Internet Access

Texas phone and cable companies are currently lobbying hard to ram through state legislation (House Bill 789) banning towns from offering Internet services at a lower cost. HB 789 would make it illegal for towns and cities to provide cheaper Internet access to their residents. Small municipalities like Skidmore are not profitable for these large telecommunications corporations and, under HB 789, would be denied the right to set up their own local hi-speed networks. Call your state representative (Rep. Yvonne Gonzalez Toureilles 512-463-0645) and let her know that you are against allowing corporate lobbies to monopolize our state's Internet access.
