Stats Back Up Bobcat Pride

For those of you still feeling down after Saturday's season ending loss to Blanco, here are a few statistics Darryl Hudson gathered at the close of regular season play.

Mr. Hudson writes:

ST Bobcats are the 31-2A Champs - OUTRIGHT!! 1st time in 17 years. I would have thought this would at least get recognized in the news.

Josh Owen is the 2nd leading rusher in all 2A with 1173 yards in 107 carries. Rosenbaum from GW is 1st with 1306 in 155 per CC Caller Times last stats. Owen's average carry was 10.96 yard, which tops Rosebaum's 8.43 yards. Not to mention Owen also has 247 yards receiving on 18 receptions for an average of 13.72 yards to Rosenbaums 14 yards on 3 receptions for a 4.7 yard average. WHAT IF OWEN HAD CARRIED THE BALL MORE????

Jordan Haws is 2nd in passing in all 2A with 1043 yards in 74 completions on 132 attempts. Aparicio from Taft was 1st with 1182 yards in 93 completions on 188 attempts per CC Caller Times last stats. Haws had 56.1% completions and averaged 14.1 yards. Aparicio had 49.5% completions and averaged 12.7 yards. WHAT IF HAWS HAD THROWN MORE PASSES????

In all 2-A, ST also had Bubba Gonzales, the #7 rusher with 692 on 90 for carries (7.7 average) and Garrett Gonzales the #2 receiver with 321 on 20 receptions (16.1 average) per CC Caller Times last stats.

Team stats has ST 3rd in rushing with 2513 yards on 374 attempt to average 6.7 yards. GW was 1st with 2876 on 447 to average 6.4 yards and Banquete was 2nd with 2727 on 440 to average 6.2 yards. In passing, ST came in 2nd with Taft coming in 1st per CC Caller Times last stats. Again ST's average was on top.

Then on "D" Cory Markham according to Bay Area Sports Top 200 Defensive players, led tackles in South Texas 5A thru 1A schools with 142 Tackles 5 Sacks and 4 Fumble recoveries and John Boscamp came in 29th with 81 Tackles 1 Sack and 5 Fumble recoveries. Boscamp's 5 recoveries were the most listed for anyone in all 200 Tops defensive players. The CC Caller Times never even mentioned them.
