Elementary Bench Dedication Honors Memory of Brett Huser

Starbucks employees joined in the dedication of the new benches.

Friends and family of Brett Michael Huser gathered Tuesday, May 3rd, to honor his memory with the dedication of three new benches outside the S-T Elementary. The benches were a gift of Starbucks Coffee who donated $10 for every participant in their Brett Huser Memorial Adopt-a-Highway program.

Elementary Principal Tricia Vasquez opened the ceremony, reminding students to cherish their time on earth. Brett's good friend Lindsie O'Neill spoke about his love of life in a short remembrance. When a gust of wind blew over a frame with photos of Brett, Lindsie commented "That's probably Brett telling me to stop talking already!"

Starbucks employees made the long drive from San Antonio to attend the morning ceremony along with S-T I.S.D. faculty, staff, and the entire 5th grade class, of which, Brett's brother Ty Huser is a member. Ty presented a plaque to Starbucks in thanks for their support. The ceremony closed with a moment of silence and the song "Homesick" by Mercy Me.
