Student Musicians Showcase Talent at Spring Concert

Members of the High School Choir sing a "Happy Hands Club" favorite.

The Junior High and High School music program continues to improve under the direction of instructor Florencio Lara. The annual Spring Concert held Tuesday, May 3, drew a large and appreciative crowd to the Skidmore-Tynan Events Center. The assembled audience enjoyed performances by the Sixth Grade Band, the Seventh Grade Band, the High School Choir, and the "Battling Bobcat Band" composed of student musicians from Eighth to Twelfth Grades.

"Our 2004-2005 school year has been a true rebuilding year for our band, choir, and color guard programs. Hats off to our senior band and choir members who have modeled for all of us exemplary perseverance, effort, leadership and musical talent. A successful high school music program takes hard work, dedication, talent and support. Our Skidmore-Tynan Band Director, Mr. Florencio Lara, is a wonderful model for hard work, dedication, talent, and support, and our students have done well under his direction. Our parents are also to be commended for continuing your support through tough times in our high school music program - thank you all so much!" -- Mrs. Holubec, S-T High School Principal.
