S-T HS Out-Drives Area Schools in Food Bank Donations

The Skidmore-Tynan High School Student Council led a school wide effort during the month of November to raise food for needy families of the Coastal Bend. 3,662.6 lbs of food was donated by students, teachers and administration. That was 13.42 pounds per student at S-T High school. This amount made the Skidmore-Tynan High School the largest contributor in the area, including Corpus Christi schools.

S-T High School students set goals in each class and worked hard to meet them. Friendly competition between classes helped motivate students to reach in their pockets and give that little bit extra.

Student Council representatives went to the KIII studios Thursday, December 7, 2006 to be interviewed on the 5:00 p.m. news and to receive a computer from a representative of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi. Students attending the interview were Secretary Tori O’Brien, President Reid O’Brien, Reporter Stephanie Leal, Representative Heather Cuevas, Historian Ricky Gutierrez, and Sponsors Lisa Janysek and Mary Mengers.
